Good Energy Rebate Program - Insulation Improvements

Rebate Amount:

  • $2.50 per square foot for adding an insulation value of R-20 to R-29.
  • $3.50 per square foot for adding an insulation value of R-30 or greater.

Yukon Home Energy Rebates

You can get low-cost funding under the Better Buildings program. This will help you pay for qualifying energy upgrades to your residential or commercial building.

Eligible properties

  • Properties located in participating municipalities.
  • Rural properties located outside of municipal boundaries.

Contact the Energy Branch to find out if your municipality is participating in the Better Buildings program.

Eligible applicants

Property owners who are up to date on payment of property taxes for all their properties.

Eligible buildings

Existing homes or buildings on titled residential or commercial property located in the Yukon.

Eligible energy upgrades

Property owners must implement 1 or more eligible energy upgrades in an existing home or building.

For residential buildings:

  • air sealing and adding insulation to walls and attic;
  • installing a heat-recovery ventilator;
  • installing cold-climate air-source heat pumps;
  • replacing existing windows with ENERGY STAR® windows; or
  • installing a wood or biomass heating system for off-grid communities.

For commercial buildings:

  • air sealing and insulating walls;
  • upgrading or recommissioning heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems;
  • installing a biomass heating system; or
  • installing a cold-climate air-source heat pump.

 

PROGRAM DETAILS

ZeroPath rebate for new homes

Our ZeroPath rebate rewards new homes that are:

  • constructed to be energy efficient; and
  • better than the current 2015 National Building Code standards.

Eligibility

The ZeroPath 60 rebate rewards applicants whose new home has an annual energy consumption that is 60% less than the same home built to the current 2015 National Building Code standards.

The ZeroPath 50 rebate rewards applicants whose new home has an annual energy consumption that is between 50% and 59% less than the same home built to the current 2015 National Building Code standards.

The annual energy consumption is based on the new home’s heating and hot water energy consumption. Excluded from the calculation are:

  • electrical base-loads; and
  • renewable energy capacity you’ve installed.
Rebate amount

The ZeroPath 60 rebate is $10,000.

The ZeroPath 50 rebate is $5,000.

You can get an additional $1,500 when you install an air-source heat pump in your new home.
