New Brunswick Residential Financial Incentives for Insulation
Save Energy NB
Get insulation incentives when you insulate a minimum of 20% of the total building component area. For example, 20% of the total ceiling area, regardless of how many different types of ceiling/roof/attic spaces you have. You must provide legible copies of receipts/invoices at the time of the final Home Energy Evaluation. Please see Eligibility Criteria for details in the program guidelines.
Need to remove existing insulation because it is mouldy, compressed, or just generally in bad shape? Make sure when you add new insulation that you replace the amount you removed plus the “minimum to add” shown in the table below.
*In the tables below, incentive ranges have been minimized to save space. You can still receive incentives for adding insulation amounts between the ranges shown.

Air Sealing

NB Power Low Income Energy Saving Program
The Low-Income Energy Savings Program targets homes in need of major energy efficiency upgrades, especially those needing insulation and air sealing. These upgrades will help low-income homeowners in New Brunswick reduce their energy use and costs.
Homes that are accepted into the Program may be eligible to receive some energy upgrades and will also have a number of energy saving products installed. Please see the Program Guidelines for more information.
Upgrades could include a mix of:

Enhanced Energy Savings Program
Are you a homeowner who would like to save money on heat and electricity bills?
You may be eligible for free home efficiency upgrades that could lower your heat and electricity costs through the Enhanced Energy Savings Program. The Government of New Brunswick funds the program and NB Power administers it.
The program focuses on helping homeowners in New Brunswick reduce energy costs through home efficiency upgrades.
You must go through an application process first. If you meet the eligibility requirements, the energy efficiency retrofits to your home are free of charge to you. The program is available to all New Brunswick homeowners who are customers of any utility company.
The program can cover the cost of major and minor upgrades, including:
- the addition of basement, attic and wall insulation
- ventilation to improve air quality and/or humidity issues
- installation of energy efficient lightbulbs and/or low-flow shower heads (to reduce lighting and hot water energy consumption)
- faucet aerators
- sealing around doors and windows
- mini-split heat pumps
